HENDERSON HITS HALF TON FOR EPPLETON

Eppleton batted first against the Durham Cricket Academy and made 187-9, mainly thanks to opener Luke Henderson who scored 54 and Gary Burlinson who made 30.

Matthew Oswell was in good form with the ball taking3-34,withFaizan­Hussain and Adam Ahmed claiming two wickets each.

The Academy then slumped to 11-4, as Jack McBeth (2-17) and Josh Coughlin (3-13) tore into the top order.

However, Harry Adair dug in for 58 from 84 balls, which included four fours and a six to steer his side to a draw, with the last pair Faizan Hussain and William Angus facing 92 balls between them.

Chester-le-Street were at home to bottom club Sacriston and were asked to bat first and had opener Kyle Davis to thank, as he made 100 not out in a total of 240-7 declared.

His century came off 161 balls, which included just seven fours and then Liam Simpson cracked 71 from 78 balls to give them their healthy total, while James Thompson claimed 3-31 with the ball.

Sacriston then started well with Jonny Bushnell scoring 33, but then Stephen Cantwell took 3-37 and there were two wickets each for Jack Campbell and Liam Burgess, to guide the Cestrians home to victory, as they made 178 all out.

Whitburn entertaine­d Hetton Lyons and the visitors scored 212-9, with opener Stuart Walker scoring 55 and skipper Jarvis Clay smashed 74 from 113 balls, while Kieran Waterson claimed 4-41 with the ball.

In reply, Whitburn were skittled all out for just 104, with Cameron Grimwood claiming an excellent 5-25, with Robert Talbot and Carl Watson, each claiming two wickets apiece, with Jackson Edmondston­e top scoring with 24.

Benwell Hill faced Stockton at home and the visitors racked up 201-9, as Tom Hewison scored 38, Matthew Gill 50 and Hassan Raza chipped in with 30 as well.

Max Williamson took 3-70, with two wickets apiece for Peter Jones, Kyle Coetzer and Anthony Hunter.

The Hill then batted very well and made the required runs, totalling 202-4, thanks to 86 not out from Mohsin Mukhtar and 68 from Kyle Coetzer, to win the game by six wickets.

Newcastle entertaine­d the league leaders South North and were asked to bat first by the visitors.

They started well with Kieran Trevaskis scoring 38, but were all out for 137 with Sean Tindale claiming 3-12 and Richard Stanyon 3-19, bowling well for the leaders.

South North in reply, made the required runs totalling 141-6, thanks to Sean Tindale with the bat scoring 52 despite Oliver McGee claiming 3-38 early on.

Tynemouth entertaine­d Felling and decided to bat first and made 191-9 declared with Nick Armstrong top scoring with 50 to his name. Dale Shaw and Anthony Trotter both bowled well, taking four wickets each.

Felling did not bat very well against Martin Pollard as he took a brilliant 7-27, to win the game, as they ended up 122 all out.

Burnmoor lead the table, as they beat visiting Gateshead Fell by just five runs.

They scored 140 all out, mainly thanks to Sami Niazi, who made an excellent 57 batting at number ten.

He then took 3-42, with Marc Symington taking an excellent 5-23 to win the game, despite 37 coming from Sam Roseby.

Castle Eden stay third, as they hosted bottom club Blaydon and won by six wickets.

The visitors made 180 all out, mainly thanks to 34 from Josh Burke and 54 from Joseph Reynolds, with Ryan Ball taking an excellent 5-35.

In reply, openers Robbie McGlasham with 73 not out and Liam Irwin 52, put on 98 for the first wicket, guiding their team home to victory, totalling 184-4.

Brandon slip to fourth, after drawing at Willington. They made 295-3 declared, as Chris Peareth made an excellent 146 not out and Gordon Muchall added 58.

In reply, the home side scored 223-9, with Gerasimos Fatouros making a superb 147 not out, to save the day, despite Muchall and Steven humble taking four wickets each.

Boldon were at South Shields and had a comfortabl­e eight wicket win.

Shields made 149 all out, with opener Luke Elliott scoring 79, while Nicholas Sampson-Barnes claimed 3-25 and Ian Male 4-22. Boldon then batted well with Nathan Hewitt making 53 and Ian Pattison 83 not out, from 85 balls, which included seven fours and two sixes, in a partnershi­p worth 121 runs in their winning total of 153-2.

Washington welcomed Sunderland and lost by 65 runs, with the Ashbrooke outfit racking up 237-9.

League leaders Burnopfiel­d, had the weekend off.
