Better cycle paths needed

-

After seeing the news about he lady who was knocked over by a cyclist and killed, isn’t it about time cycle paths were transferred to main roads.

This would mean people can walk on pavements without being tooted at to get out of the way or shouted at by people who think they have a right of way on the pavement.

Outside of where I live there is a red brick cycle path and not one cyclist uses it.

In Holland there are cycle paths clearly marked on the roads and sometimes they use the paths to get across the traffic lights, which is okay.

I hope someone at the council will pass a law to prevent the elderly and disabled from being run over by cyclists on the new road in Sunderland.

Able bodied people are alse being shouted at to get out of the way when they are walking along the pavement.

Some of the cyclists don’t the cycle paths at all.

Pavements are for pedestrians, the roads are for cyclists and all other vehicles.

Also I don’t think we have had a bus coming up or down the new road at all.

It would be much better for the elderly people living in Chillingham House and for those living in houses round about.

At the moment people have to go into Roker Avenue or Dundas Street, which mean you have to cross two busy roads. JM Lennox
