HOME MISERY FOR RCA

STOCKTON TOWN CLAIM 3-0 WIN AT MEADOW PARK

-

Sunderland RCA were beaten at home for the second time in three days as Stockton Town came away from Meadow Park with all three points.

Martin Swales’ side needed to make a positive start after Saturday’s defeat against Dunston UTS but it was Anchors striker Sonni Coleman that gave the visitors the upper hand with a goal on 18 minutes.

That lead was doubled five minutes into the second half when Mikey Roberts intercepted a weak backpass before rounding RCA keeper Scott Pocklington and rolling into an empty net.

Peter Bulmer wrapped up the points with three minutes left for the Anchors.

It’s five defeats in a row in all competitions for injuryravaged Ryhope CW as they succumbed to a 3-1 defeat at Whitley Bay.

Jack Foalle put the hosts ahead on 23 minutes but Ryhope defender Thomas Bott headed them back on level terms just moments later.

Luke Salmon restored Whitley’s lead eight minutes before half-time and Foalle grabbed his second goal of the night to send the hosts into the interval with a twogoal lead.

Ryhope striker Matty Weirs wasted the chance to reduce the arrears when he struck a post from the penalty spot midway through the second half.

Josh Home-Jackson was also frustrated by the woodwork moments later as he curled a 25-yard effort against the crossbar.

Danni Lay headed wide from close range in the last 10 minutes to round off a frustrating night for Gary Pearson’s men.

Hebburn Town were held to a 3-3 draw by struggling North Shields.

Graeme Armstrong put the Hornets ahead on six minutes but the lead was short-lived as Gary Day grabbed an equaliser for the Robins.

Michael Richardson continued his impressive start to life at Hebburn with a brace to give his side a 3-1 lead at half-time.

Lewis Suddick pulled one back from the penalty spot after the interval and Paul Robinson struck a wonderful equaliser from the halfway line in the closing stages.

Billy Greulich-Smith, Jamie Harwood and Matty Waters got the goals as Shildon secured a 3-0 home win against Penrith.

Louis Dodds got the only goal of the game to help West Auckland Town to all three points against Newcastle Benfield and Luke Carr and Danny Craggs were on the scoresheet in Consett’s 3-2 win at Ashington.

Whickham gained their first point with a 1-1 draw at Newton Aycliffe.

In Division Two, Jonathan Hirst and James Wilson were amongst the goals as Jarrow came away from Tow Law Town with a 3-0 win.

Cheltenham have become the first English Football League side to sack their manager this season after parting company with Gary Johnson.

A 1-1 draw at Macclesfield earned Cheltenham their first point of the season last night after three previous defeats, but it was not enough to save Johnson’s job.
