Take lead for a doggy cafe

-

It is great that dog owners are catered for at Roker and Seaburn and are welcome in some of the cafes and pubs.

Sadly, the same cannot be said about the city centre. Many people like to take their dogs out and about with them and into the city. It is great if the weather is fine as a few places have seating outside of their premises.

However, if it is raining there is nowhere to take your dogs with you if you fancy a bite to eat.

I am surprised no one has opened a dog friendly cafe in the city centre, they would make a lot of money.

I know some people would moan about this, but a lot of dog owners keep their pets cleaner than some people.

On a different note, some people have been moaning about dogs been allowed onto the beach during the hot weather, the solution to this is , there are other beaches in Sunderland where dogs aren’t allowed so I don’t know why these people don’t use one of those in future.

Also, someone recently moaned about dogs being allowed in Barnes Park and being let of off the lead near to the children’s play area and that they should be banned from parks.

I agree dogs should be kept on the lead in parks but not banned as the letter writer was suggesting.

If dogs are to be banned anywhere and let off the lead, it should be in cemeteries. It is terrible in Bishopwearmouth for dogs being let off the lead and running over graves, even though it states dogs must be kept on leads, some people have no respect. There is no reason to walk a dog in a cemetery as there are plenty of other places to go in Sunderland. D Kell
