Peterlee moving on up after United win

Peterlee Catholic Club have moved up to joint second in the Premier Division after a 6-1 win over Peterlee Helford United.

Gary Shaw scored five, with the other goals coming from Jack Pounder, with Daniel Hebden replying.

Dawdon Welfare Park hammered Murton Colliery 7-0, with Robbie Bird (2), Kyle Bell, Marc Ruddock, Callum Munro, Wes Smith and Kieran Mitchell hitting the net.

In the First Division, a hat-trick from Tom Williams helped Easington Leather Cap to a 6-1 win over Hetton Lyons, with Nathan Burton, Joe Taboun, and Jordan Williams also on target. Bradley Bowman responded.

Goals from Andrew Daley and Andrew Armstrong were not enough for Haswell Oddfellows Arms when they suffered a crushing 6-2 defeat in the hands of Sherburn United.

Wingate Grange outclassed Easington Welfare to win 17-0 with 10 of their goals coming from striker Simon Hall.

In the only Second Division match that took place, Haswell Oddfellows Arms lost 4-2 to Sherburn United.

In the Cyril Dunn Memorial Cup first leg, Shotton Comrades suffered a 4-0 defeat to South Hetton Cricket Club, who had Brandon Cook (2), Mark Hartley and Michael Kennedy scoring.

In the two first leg ties of the George Ivey Memorial Cup, Thornley Harrys Bar beat East Durham 121, while Wingate Howden won 4-2 against Easington Victory.

In the preliminar­y round of the Durham County Sunday Cup, Easington Colliery Club Mechanics won 4-0 against Greatham Bull and Dog, thanks to Jack Garside, Andrew Elliott, Nathan Graham and Anthony Dobell.

Horden Cricket Club suffered a crushing 11-0 defeat against Billingham Merlin, while Seaham Parkside lost 4-1 to Hartlepool Welfare Athletic.

Peterlee Hearts beat Hartlepool Causeway Inn 1-0, Seaham Marlboroug­h beat beat Darlington RA 5-0 and New Seaham Westlea lost 5-3 against Houghton Wild Boar.
