Northern League Division Two

-

Durham City will look to make progress on a new managerial appointment after Tuesday night’s home game against Northallerton Town.

The Citizens parted company with Mikey Weston within two hours of the full-time whistle in Saturday’s defeat at Birtley Town.

That result left the club with just one win from their opening eight games of the season and only winless Brandon United are keeping them off the bottom of the Northern League Division Two table.

Chairman Olivier Bernard has revealed that striker Wayne Greziak will take charge for the visit of Northallerton and expressed his desire to move towards a new appointment once the game is done.

“I need to speak to the board but Wayne will be our manager for Tuesday’s game,” explained the former Newcastle United defender.

“We need to see what the board want to do and what Wayne wants to do.

“Things are slipping and we know they are but we will have a meeting and see what the best way forward is.

“Tuesday is most important for us and that has to be our focus for now.”

Chester-le-Street Town are top of the Division Two table after their 2-0 win at West Allotment Celtic.

It’s now seven wins in as many leagues games for the Cestrians after two goals from Josh King gave them all three points at Druid Park.

A surprise home defeat against Washington meant that Easington Colliery slipped to fifth place in the table. Kyle Middleton gave the Colliers a seventh-minute lead but they were condemned to a second defeat in three games by Kris Goss’ second-half brace. Jarrow are into fifth place despite being held to a home draw by Redcar Athletic. Jonathan Higham put Jarrow ahead on 12 minutes and Luke Lloyd grabbed a debut goal to extend their lead midway through the second-half. But late goals from Sam Webster and Gary Wood ensured that Redcar took a point from their visit to Perth Green.

Chris Dunwell’s late winner helped Crook Town win by the odd goal in five at home against Brandon United.

All four goals came in the second-half as Willington and Billingham Synthonia shared the points.

Dean Thexton put the hosts ahead on 70 minutes but Synners striker Kallum Hannah got his side back level 10 minutes later.

Conor Winter looked to have secured the points for the hosts but Hannah got his second of the day in injurytime to secure a point for his side.
