EPPLETON HOLD THEIR NERVE TO SECURE PREMIER STATUS

TWO-WICKET VICTORY SEALS EPPLETON’S PREMIER DIVISION POSITION FOR YET ANOTHER SEASON

Eppleton live to fight another day in the Premier Division after securing their survival with a two-wicket win over Tynemouth.

The visitors made 147-9, with Sam Dinning top scoring with 32, as Craig Scurr bowled well, taking 4-16.

In reply, the home side made a positive start, with Luke Henderson making 44 and Marcus Brown 34, putting on 90 runs for the first wicket.

They then wobbled a bit, but eventually made it home, scoring 148-8, to secure their premiershi­p status for another season.

Sacriston will also stay in the Premier League for another season, despite their game against the Durham Academy, losing out to the weather.

They had made 77-3, with Reece Carr on 45 not out, when the rain forced the abandonmen­t of the game.

Stockton were relegated, as they lost at Newcastle.

The home side made 193 all out after deciding to bat first.

Thomas Dias with 48, and Kieran Trevaskis scored 64 from 68 balls, which included seven fours and four sixes, while Joel Thwaites with (4-31) and Hassan Raza (3-66), claimed the bowling honours.

The Teessiders then batted and were all out for 131, thanks to Callum Harding (3-15) and Jacques Do Toit (3-21), despite Joe Hewison scoring 53 runs.

Champions South Northumber­land were at home to Felling and racked up 300-6, thanks to 53 from Simon Birtwisle and Sean Tindale who made 83, in an opening partnershi­p worth 94.

Peter Borren then made 63 off just 34 balls, which included five fours and three sixes, while Liam Trevaskis smashed 40 not out, from just 13 balls.

Felling could not cope with Sean Tindale as he took an excellent 5-16, from 13 overs, to ensure his team remained unbeaten all season, an excellent achievemen­t.

Hetton Lyons drew their match with Chester-leStreet, as the visitors made 184-6, with Kyle Davis making 64 and George Harrison 50, in an opening stand of 115, while Robert Talbot returned 3-37 with the ball.

The Lyons then made 155-5, with Chris Martin making 45 and Robert Talbot 80, while Stephen Cantwell ensured the draw for Chester, taking 4-38.

The match between Whitburn at Benwell Hill was abandoned, without a ball being bowled.
