St Aidan’s Community Group runs a number of activities throughout the week including: Seated exercise every Friday from 11am to noon. No experience is necessary and you are welcome to stay for a coffee and a chat afterwards if you have the time. Sessions cost £3. A free Photograph­ic Restoratio­n course takes place every Tuesday from 1.15pm to 2.15pm. There is always good company and a great tutor. Trace Your Family Tree every Tuesday from 2.15pm to 3.45pm. Same good company and the same great tutor. A ceramics course starts Thursday, September 27, for seven weeks. It is £20 for the full course and all materials and it si on from 1.30pm to 4.30pm. Places must be booked in advance due to limited numbers. There will be a New Herrington Litter Pick along with some fun family activities taking place on Friday, September 28, from 4pm to 7pm. There will also be Lego, art and crafts and snacks too. It will be free to attend and suitable for age five and over. Halloween Spooky Fun will take place on Saturday, October 20, from 10am to 2pm. Again it will be suitable for ages five and over. There will be a cookery workshop and arts and fun. Free to attend and all are welcome.

Lakeside Community Centre has a number of establishe­d clubs such as carpet bowls, art club etc. There is a hall for hire for children’s birthday parties and anniversar­y celebratio­ns with a capacity of 75. City Care runs adult day care in Holy Rosary Parish Centre each Friday from 10am to 2.30pm. Sessions cost £15 and a light lunch can be provided at £3 per person. Transport can also be provided at an extra cost. There will be lots of activities including a quiz, games, bingo, painting and there will be lots of laughter. St David’s Community Church, Anthony Road, Farringdon, runs a weekly coffee morning on a Thursday from 9am to noon. Full English breakfasts are served as well as activities such as crafts and music. Hall, built in 1785, is a Grade 1 listed building and retains vertually all of its original features. It is the oldest purposebui­lt masonic temple under the English constituti­on in existence in the world. It is open on Saturday, September 15, from 10am to 4pm. A Community Cinema will be held at Back on the Map, Carnegie Corner, 67 Toward Road, on Thursday, September 13. Admission is £1.50 which includes refreshmen­ts. Doors open at 12.30pm for refreshmen­ts with a screening at 1pm. Choices are: The Producers, Waterboy, and Houseboat. Heritage Open Days is at the Donnison School. Go along and see the provision Lady Donnison made in her will in 1777 for a Victorian schoolroom for 36 poor girls to be educated. It is open from Thursday, September 13, to Sunday, September 16, from 10am to 4pm.
