Help fight blood cancer

-

At DKMS, we’re dedicated to the fight against blood cancer by recruiting lifesaving blood stem cell donors.

As we mark Blood Cancer Awareness Month, this September, we’re delighted that we’ve now reached a milestone of 400,000 donors registered with DKMS in the UK.

These donors are on standby to donate their blood stem cells to someone with a blood cancer or disorder, and potentially save their life.

In our five-year history we’ve helped to give more than 600 people a second chance at life.

We’d like to say a huge thank you to everyone who has helped to support us and make this possible.

Despite these achievements there are still about 2,000 people in the UK in need of a blood stem cell transplant.

Someone in the UK will be diagnosed with a blood cancer, such as leukaemia, myeloma or lymphoma, every 20 minutes and it’s the third most common cause of cancer deaths in the UK – with 12,000 people dying each year.

We need your support to help us win the fight against blood cancer and there are two ways you can get involved:

If you’re aged between 17 and 55 and in general good health please register online for your home swab kit and potentially save the life of someone like you (dkms.org. uk/register-now).

It cost £40 to register a new blood stem cell donor. Why not lend a hand by hosting a #LetsNailBloodCancer party and raise funds to help register more potential lifesaving blood stem cell donors?

We’ll continue our fight against blood cancer, registering as many potential lifesavers as possible.

We will not stop until there is a match for everyone in need of a blood stem cell transplant. Many thanks. Lisa Nugent, Head of Donor Recruitment at DKMS
