A TRIP TO CHRISTMAS PAST, PRESENT AND FUTURE

-

Innovative puppetry and creature company 4M has teamed up with award-winning theatre company Theatre Space North East for a trip to Christmases past, present and future. Newcastle Castle will be filled with music, merriment and mayhem as the ghosts of Christmases past, present and future pay a visit to Ebenezer Scrooge on a night he won’t forget. Now, due to demand which saw original dates sell-out in less than 48 hours, it’s been announced there will be a further six performances. Charles Dicken’s timeless classic will be brought to life twice nightly on December 19, 20 and 21 for the additional dates as 4M and Sunderland-based Theatre Space North East, stage a retelling of this yuletide classic in the great hall of the castle. Featuring puppets, music and live actors, the production is supported by Arts Council England in partnership with Newcastle Castle, Crisis and the Newcastle West End Food Bank. Artistic director of Theatre Space North East, Corinne Kilvington, reflects on the recent sell-out: “We’re delighted to have convinced our ghosts to make a further six appearances after the overwhelming demand, which saw our original dates sell-out so quickly. The support for the show so far has been fantastic and I’d like to thank the cast, our co-producers 4M and Newcastle Castle for agreeing to put on the extra shows, so everyone who missed out the first time round can have a very Merry Christmas indeed.” At every performance, a collection for Newcastle Food Bank West End will take place, echoing the moral of the story, that helping others is the greatest gift. Tickets are £12 for adults and £8 concessions from http://www.theatrespace.org.uk/christmascarol
