Sunderland take up HALF of Accrington

-

Sunderland have been allocated almost HALF of the Wham Stadium’s capacity for their upcoming League One clash with Accrington Stanley.

Jack Ross’ side travel to Accrington on December 8 ahead of a busy Christmas fixture schedule, with the Black Cats faithful receiving a staggering 2,374 tickets out of the 5,057 available.

Travelling to Luton Town, Gillingham, AFC Wimbledon, Burton Albion, Coventry City, Bradford City, Shrewsbury Town and Doncaster Rovers so far, Sunderland fans have sold out each of their eight away games.

But a first-ever trip to Accrington is set to provide a different and unique feel, with the home fans set to outnumber Sunderland’s contingent by a small margin of just over 300 fans.

Tickets will initially go on sale to season card holders today and a general sale will commence November 2 if there are any left. For more information visit the club website.

Meanwhile, tomorrow Sunderland return to league action at the Stadium of Light after three League One games on the road – and owner Stewart Donald is hoping for a bumper crowd.

So far, more than 28,000 tickets – including season ticket sales – have been bought and Donald is hoping for a crowd of 35,000. The biggest crowd this season is the 32,193 at the Oxford game.

Donald tweeted: “On the back of 3 straight away wins and the lads doing their very best & giving their all for the club can 7k more turn up & help us keep pushing forward. We need you all! Your support and backing is absolutely vital. #inittogether.”
