MASTERFUL SWIMMERS ARE IN THE MEDALS
CITY OF SUNDERLAND EXCEL AT SWIM ENGLAND NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS
The City of Sunderland Masters ASC swim squad produced some excellent performances at the Swim England National Championships, held at Pond’s Forge.
Dave Hills came away with two medals, a silver medal in the 50m freestyle in a time of 30.65 seconds, a personal best for him.
Hills also secured a bronze in the 100m freestyle (1:10.22).
However, Hills had to be content with a fourth placed finish in the 50m backstroke (40.63), the 200m freestyle (2:40.40) and the 100m individual medley (1:23.49).
Dave was also ranked fifth in the 50m breaststroke (41.79), and seventh in the 50m butterfly (36.65).
Jon Dean managed a bronze medal in the 200m backstroke in a time of 2:44.42, creating a personal best time.
Mark Robinson came 10th in the 50m breaststroke (32.50), 12th in the 50m backstroke (31.34), 13th in the 50m freestyle (25.88), yet managed to break a minute for his 100m freestyle (59.48).
Conor Crozier put in some excellent personal best performances in the 50m freestyle, where he ranked 17th (25.69) and the 50m butterfly, where he ranked 12th (27.80).
Crozier then finished 7th in the 50m backstroke (29.80).
Gareth Orr also achieved two personal bests in the 50m breaststoke (39.88) ranking 26th, and the 100m freestyle (1:09.2) ranking 39th.
Orralsoswaminthe100m IM ranking 25th 1:19.03, the 100m butterfly ranking 13th (1:25.71) and the 50m butterfly ranking 36th (30.47).
Graeme Shutt put in some excellent times when he competed in the 200m IM ranking 6th (3:56.96), 100m IM ranking 8th (1:42.46), 50m backstroke ranking 7th (47.13) and 50m butterfly ranking 10th (45.08).
Lindy Woodrow achieved a personal best in the 800m freestyle ranking 7th in a time of 14:59.39.
She also competed in the 100m freestyle ranking 13th (1:47.29), the 200m freestyle ranking 10th (3:35.22) and the 400m freestyle ranking 12th (7:24.34).
The club entered a mixed relay 200m medley in the 120+ years category.
The team comprised of Mark Robinson (backstroke), Lindy Woodrow (breaststroke), Gareth Orr (butterfly) and Imogen Fife (freestyle).
The team came in fifth in a time of 2:40.73.
