Washington Duke moved up to the dizzy heights of third place after their latest Fourth Division victory.

They beat Whitburn Panthers in a close game which ended 4-3, thanks to goals from Ball (2), Stephenson and Bland.

Ashbrooke Rosedene have managed to overtake Hall Farm Doxy Lad at the top of the league after their 4-1 win over AFC Houghton.

Micky Brown bagged a brace, with further goals coming from Helens and Matty Teasdale. Haggerston­e scored Houghton’s consolatio­n goal.

Hall Farm Doxy Lad dropped a couple of points against the Washington Cherry Tree as they could only manage a 2-2 draw.

Dean Smith and Richie Duggan found the net for Doxy Lad, but their goals were cancelled out by Gary Glenn’s brace.

A red card for Velocity Burton House’s Darren Ewart scuppered his team’s chances of a result against Carpets Centre Elite as the hosts took a 3-2 win.

Velocity had Conlin and Raeper score before the dismissal, but the resolute Carpetmen took the win after a Davey Fairs strike and a Gav Murton brace.

It was yet another defeat for North Biddick as they went down to Washington United 4-2, and it sees them remain rooted at the bottom of the league.

Crawford, Woodley (2) and an own goal made sure of the win for United, Smyth and Luke Potts scoring Biddick’s goals.

Oddies still lead the pack at the top of the Third Division after yet another win.

They beat Millfield Free Gardeners 3-0 with goals from Brad Timm, Paul Webster and Paul Maw.

Penshaw CC only just edged out basement boys Sunderland North 2-1 in a tight encounter.

Penshaw claimed the points with goals from Kane and Jordan, with Judson replying for North.

Grindon Broadway celebrated only their second league win of the season when they beat Witherwack in a 10-goal thriller.

Broadway had Williams, Barnes and Clasper all bag braces to secure the win, while Witherwack kept themselves interested with goals from Calvert, Yoxall, Maddison and Muncaster.

Matty Middlemiss’s strike for the Lakeside was cancelled out by a super effort from Scott Richardson as Millview rescued an unlikely point.

Wear United secured another win in this mid-table clash against Washington Blue Bell to take their league wins to six for the season.

In the 6-1 win, Barnes, Coulson, Doleman (2) and Taylor (2) scoring the goals, with Smith responding for the Blue Bell.
