Wearside League on lookout for a new sponsor

-

The Wearside League are looking for a new sponsor after they announced that their deal with TWR BiFolds will end this season.

The Peterlee-based company have been involved in non-league football for over a decade and took up an initial sponsorship of the Wearside Combination League in 2008.

They followed that up by sponsoring the Wearside League for the last three years, but this season will be their last as the league’s main sponsor.

A Wearside League statement read: “The Wearside League is to part company with its sponsor TWR BiFolds at the end of the current season.

“The league is now on the lookout for a new sponsor for the 2019/2020 season.

“The league would welcome a sponsor for the league as a whole or would be willing to have sponsors who would sponsor one of our many competitions such as the League, Shipowners, Monkwearmouth or Alan Hood Charity Cups plus our Development Division and any of its cup competitions.”

The Wearside League are currently running with two separate divisions after adding a Durham and Wearside Development Division ahead of this season.

A number of Northern League clubs have progressed from the Wearside League in recent years, including the likes of Division One side Ryhope CW, Jarrow FC and last season’s FA Vase finalists Stockton Town.

The league is made up of clubs from Wearside, South Tyneside, Teesside, North Yorkshire, County Durham and Cumbria and last year they celebrated their 125th anniversary.
