Oddies stay top after North lose direction

Top beat bottom in the Sunderland Sunday League Third Division, as Oddies FC won 3-2 at Sunderland North.

Bell and Judson scored in each half for the North side, but Oddies were too good as Webster bagged a brace and Maw hit the winner.

Millview CIU kept themselves in the hunt for a promotion spot as they moved into fourth place with a 3-2 home win over Grindon Broadway SC.

Conlin, Laing and Robertson fired the important goals for Millview and Grindon responded through Williams and Ord.

Taylor and Croucher scored two each as Wear United won 7-1 at Washington Blue Bell, Rylan Clarke pulling one back before Walters, White and Doleman completed the rout.

But Lakeside SSC outdid that with a 15-1 win against Witherwack, Murton, Middlemiss and Usher all hitting trebles.

In the Fourth Division, Ashbrooke Rosedene stay joint-top after a 4-3 win at Washington Duke, Micheal Brown and Lee Etheridge both with braces.

Joining them at the summit, Hall Farm Doxy Lad beat Washington United 5-2, Pearce, Glenwright (2), Richie Duggan and Carl Duggan with their goals.

Velocity Burton House moved away from the bottom of the league after beating AFC Houghton 4-1, Jay Conlin with two excellent strikes, and Adam Norton hitting back before Velocity sealed victory through Bravey and Raeper.

Carpets Centre Elite kept themselves in the promotion hunt with a 6-1 demolition of basement boys Washington North Biddick.

And it was easy pickings for Washington Cherry Tree as they tamed the Whitburn Panthers 5-0, Shaun Wilson hitting a career-first hat-trickbefor­e further goals were added by Martin and Laing-Barrass.

In the Total Sport Challenge Trophy, Ryhope Forresters won 4-2 against Washington Teal Farm, Keiran Davies with a hattrick and Armstrong with the fourth goal.
