Get ready to set sail with Peter Pan kids

CITY YOUNGSTERS EXCITED TO STEP INTO EMPIRE SPOTLIGHT

-

Twinkle toed performers from Sunderland are preparing to take flight with the cast of Peter Pan as the countdown to panto season commences.

Local performers from Kathleen Davis Stage School, Shameem Karim School of Performing Arts, Northern Star and The Worx were successful in auditions earlier in the year and will be sharing the stage in the roles of the Village Children and the Lost Boys.

The performers will join the all-star crew when they sail into Sunderland Empire for this year’s swashbuckling pantomime, which runs from December 14 to January 6.

They’ll share the stage alongside award-winning actor Jamie Lomas (Hollyoaks, EastEnders, I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here) taking on the role of Captain Hook, CBBC’s Richard McCourt aka ‘Dick’ from Dick and Dom as Smee, Melanie Walters from BBC’s BAFTA winning series Gavin and Stacey as Mrs Darling and West End actor Josh Andrews (Cats, Book of Mormon and 42nd Street) as Peter Pan.

Geri Feeney, Northern Star Theatre Arts said: “Northern Star are very excited that some of our boys have been chosen to perform in this year’s pantomime Peter Pan at Sunderland Empire Theatre.

“This is yet another wonderful achievement for our students on the back of two professional productions of Joseph and Evita. We are very proud of the hard work and dedication of our students and staff. It is a wonderful opportunity to showcase our talented youngsters. Northern Star classes run from Sunderland College Bede Campus training four to 16-year-olds in Performing Arts.”

Further casting includes Lauren Ferreira as Tinkerbell, Ruth Betteridge as Wendy and Inez Mackenzie as Tiger Lily. The Pirate Crew include Alex Middlebrook, Morgan Chambers and William Beckerleg as the fabulous comedy acrobatics, The Nitwits. Joined by the ensemble, Anna Greenwell, Natasha Hair, Alexandria Patterson, Emily Seward and Emily Beach.

There will be a relaxed performance of Peter Pan on December 27 at 5pm. A British Sign Language performance will be at 7pm on January 4.
