James Wood and Joseph Calvert gave Town a 2-0 win over Sherburn Village.

Sacriston WMC are through to the final of the JD Taxis Challenge Cup after a 2-1 victory over Ferryhill Community Hub.

Christophe­r Mordue and Luke Wilson scored for Sacriston, Tyler Marquis for Ferryhill.

Lumley Snooker Club are into the third round of the D&P Trophies Knockout Trophy after a 2-1 win against Hetton New Inn.

James Laidler and Lee McBeth were repeatedly denied by the New Inn goalkeeper, before the latter’s side took the lead.

McBeth eventually equalised on 70 minutes and when Laidler was again thwarted by the opposing keeper, Steve Shears netted the rebound.

In the Durham & District Sunday League Premier Division, Sedgefield St Edmunds strengthen­ed their hold on top spot with a 6-1 win over Ouston Cherry Tree.

In Division One, Brandon Sports Club beat Ouston Juniors 3-1, Michael Fort (2) and Corey Haslam on target and Kieran McPherson for Ouston.

Dubmire WMC and Coxhoe Red Lion shared a 1-1 draw.

Washington Westwood won 2-1 at New Brancepeth WMC, Gary Allen with a brace (and a missed penalty) to avenge a previous defeat and make it two wins out of three against Brancepeth this season.

Third beat second in Division Three as Hetton Social RAR overcame Waldridge 3-2.

Hetton led through Aaron Walker and Jake Bowman, Waldridge pegging them back either side of half-time through Gregory Short and Sam White, before Myles Hubbard won it with an 80thminute free-kick.

Andrew Thompson and Dan Hall snatched the consolatio­n goals as Quarringto­n Hill WMC were beaten 7-2 by Peases West.

Spennymoor Volitgier trounced Pelton Crown Inn 9-1 with goals from Josh Heslop (5), Simon Powell (2), Callum Savage and Michael Donohue.

And Houghton Chilton Lodge won 5-0 at Witton Gilbert WMC, who once again started a game well, spurned a series of chances and, once behind, folded to hand their opponents a comfortabl­e win.

Ross Meeghan (2), Ian McPherson, Andrew Bowes and Ben Hodgson scored the goals.
