The Tavern had Richie Corrighan shine between the sticks with his valiant display.

In the Third Division, Wear United and The Lakeside shared the points following a 3-3 draw as the battle for promotion heats up.

In the Fourth Division, Ashbrooke Rosedene are now looking firm title contenders after they beat one of their closest rivals - Hall Farm Doxy Lad - 3-2 to cement their place in second spot in the league.

Hope-Hindmarsh, Turnbull and Dan Leonard found the net for Ashbrooke, and Hall Farm took them all the way with Lee Pez Pearce scoring twice.

Velocity Burton House won 5-3 at home to the Washington Cherry Tree.

Carpets Centre Elite took their place at the top of the league with an easy over the hapless Whitburn Panthers.

It ended 7-0 with goals from Robins (two), Harrison, Farquhar, Oxley, Murton and Gash.

And the bottom two in the league locked horns, with Washington North Biddick left still searching for their second league win of the season after a 3-2 home defeat to AFC Houghton.

North Biddick kept themselves in contention as they hit back through Jack Main and James Thompson, but Houghton held on for the three points.
