South Hylton hit top spot

South Hylton A moved top of the Danby Autos Sunderland Snooker League after a 4-1 win at home to Seaham Conservati­ves B.

Steven Thompson won the first frame, beating Robin Midson 72-53 before breaks of 31 and 67 saw Adam Smith win the second frame 100-50 against Harland Davidson.

A 20 break helped Graham Rutland win the third frame against Tony Grimes 65-47 before Colin Dobson pulled one back for Seaham beating Gavin Dixon 76-62.

In the pairs, a 39 break by Adam Smith, when paired with Gavin Dixon, helped win the frame, beating Doug Scott and Robin Midson 77-63 for the 4-1 win.

Gary Stockton got Seaham Conservati­ves A off to a winning start at home to South Hylton B by beating Ian Stewart 58-42 with the aid of a 25 break, before Bobby Boyce quickly levelled the match with a 67-24 win against Ian Hughes.

An excellent 40 break saw Michael Monaghan win the third frame against Tony Hazard 64-19 before John Harrison continued his good form to again level the match by beating Les Pinder 54-27.

Bobby Boyce and John Harrison won Hylton the match by winning the pairs 63-29 against Stockton and Pinder.

Boldon CA welcomed Lumley and started well with Graeme Ablett winning the first frame against Neil Lowden 70-36 before a 21 break helped Derek White win the second against Sean Henderson 64-17.

Brian Meuse pulled one back for Lumley, winning a close third frame against Mark Fox 48-37 before Andrew Drinkwater levelled the match in the fourth frame against John Smith 93-41.

A 24 break by John Smith, when paired with Mark Fox, stopped the Lumley comeback as they beat Meuse and Andrew Drinkwater 70-8 for the 3-2 win.

Pennywell Comrades A started well at home to Murton Officials with Kevin Harrop winning the first frame against Bobby Carne 63-33 before Stephen Cook levelled by winning the second frame against Stuart Taylor 65-45.

Justin Ebdy moved Murton into the lead, potting well to beat Steve O’Wellen 59-28, before Dean Taylor levelled the match winning the fourth frame against Stephen Clementson 71-44.

In the pairs, Joe Turner and Dean Taylor beat Stephen Cook and Bobby Carne 60-40 for the 3-2 win.

John Danby got Glendale off to an excellent start at home to Biddick B winning the first frame against John Temple 54-33 before Frank McParlin had an excellent result beating Peter Mills 73-55.

John Wiseman increased Glendale’s lead, winning the third frame against Philip Straughan 76-42 before Tommy Rutter pulled one back for Biddick winning the fourth frame against Paul Atkinson 52-27.

Peter Mills and John Temple won the pairs beating John Danby and John Wiseman 6218 to reduce the defeat to 3-2.

Steels edged a 3-2 win away to Biddick A, while Pennywell Comrades B had a good 4-1 win at Mill View, including a good 76-55 win for Andrew Doran against Norman Brown.
