Who will finish this season as top scorer?

With the big transfer news that Josh Maja decided to leave and pursue a career in France, who will be top scorer come the end of the season? Can Will Grigg pull it off?

Aiden McGeady currently leads the pack with 7 strikes this season, the best in my opinion coming at Plymouth away last year.

The winger scored from 20 yards, powering the ball past Matt Macey in the Plymouth goal.

McGeady has shown this season he is a step above League One and I can easily see him staying top scorer for the club.

The Irish international scored 7 in the Championship last season.

Next up is Chris Maguire, the Scottish international has scored 6 so far this campaign. His goals at Burton away then Scunthorpe at home were both voted the League One goal of the month two months running.

Maguire has shown an eye for goal this season especially from outside the box scoring a few screamers so far this season.

Although, with all the competition on the wing for game time now after the addition of Lewis Morgan in January, I can’t see Maguire starting as often as he has coinciding with his inconsistent form.

Will Grigg was Sunderland’s answer to replacing Maja in the recent window.

With his goalscoring record at this level I wouldn’t be surprised if he gets close to becoming top scorer this season.

Grigg has scored 44 goals in his last two seasons in League One for Wigan and managed 4 goals in 17 Championship appearances this season.
