Football match nets cash for Craig

-

Families were on the ball when they took part in a charity football match for Seaham’s Craig Rennoldson.

The Seaham United Under 14s took on the Seaham Coast Under 13s in the charity match, which was held to boost the funds to build an extension to Craig’s home in Seaham.

And, it wasn’t just the usual players who took to the pitch.

The young people were each joined by a members of their family to make it a more fun event at The Recreation Ground in Deneside.

Christina Boagey, who organised the match, said it was a huge success and they were thrilled to raise £360 through just one game towards the family’s £25,000 total.

She said: “We had an amazing day, it was fantastic. What we made helped take the family over their first £1,000 of the appeal.

“There was a little bit of rivalry, but we all had a great day.

“We had dads, uncles, brothers and sisters, all joining the players to take part.”

Craig’s family went along to cheer the players and it was a close fought game, but in the end it was Seaham United who took a 4-3 victory.
