Oxford United were worthy of their point but there was major controversy over the goal that eventually brought them level with just minutes to play. Both Jack Ross and Karl Robinson agreed that Jerome Sinclair fouled Jimmy Dunne as they chased a long ball towards the Sunderland goal. Dunne went to ground and Sinclair was able to tee up Marcus Browne, who scored just minutes after coming off the bench to make his comeback from injury. Ross said it was ‘frustrating’ and ‘disappointing’.
