Workmates to terms with

COLLEAGUES OF TEENAGER KILLED WHILE ON A NIGHT

Devastated workmates of Connor Brown say they will “never come to terms with losing” the popular teen after his death on a night out in Sunderland city centre sparked a murder investigat­ion.

The 18-year-old was found behind The Borough pub at about 1.30am on Sunday with life-threatenin­g injuries that Northumbri­a Police described as being “consistent with those of a stabbing”.

Connor, a passionate SAFC fan and keen boxer, was taken to hospital but sadly died.

Floral tributes continue to be left at the scene in memory of the Farringdon lad.

Leighton Barrass, 20, of Hartside Square, Sunderland, has been charged with murder and was due to appear before magistrate­s in South Tyneside today.

A 19-year-old man, who was also arrested on suspicion of murder, remains in police custody and continues to assist officers with their enquiries.

Connor worked as a member of the reception team at the award-winning Happy House Surgery in Durham Road.

The group collected the GP Practice of the Year Award at last year’s Best of Health Awards, which is run by the Echo.

A spokesman for the surgery said: “The whole practice is devastated by the news of the death of Connor.”

Colleagues say they will remember him for his “wonderful, witty personalit­y” as they paid tribute to their friend.
