RED STAR’S REVIVAL HALTED BY HEBBURN

SEAHAM SUFFER THEIR FIRST DEFEAT IN FOUR GAMES AT THE HANDS OF THE HORNETS

-

Seaham Red Star saw their recent resurgence ended by a 3-1 defeat at Hebburn Town.

A goal from Paul Gardiner on the hour-mark got Mark Collingwood’s side back on level-terms after Ben DibbFuller had put the hosts ahead moments earlier.

Young winger Jack Robson put the Hornets ahead for the second time on the night and a Lewis Suddick goal eight minutes from time ensured that Red Star were beaten for the first time in four games.

A late Luke Page goal kept alive Sunderland RCA’s hopes of securing a top four finish in Division One as they came away from Newton Aycliffe with all three points.

The two sides failed to break the deadlock throughout 90 minutes, but Page found the net in the second minute of injury-time.

West Auckland and Consett shared the points at the Wanted Stadium.

A Luke Carr free-kick put Consett ahead on the half-hour, but West equalised with a Ross Colquhoun header on 36 minutes.

The visitors were reduced to ten men six minutes after half-time when Nick Cassidy was shown a red card, but they held on to secure a hardearned point.

South Shields and Shildon will meet in the final of the Durham Challenge Cup after they came through difficult semi-final ties.

Nathan Lowe, David Foley and Robert Briggs found the net as South Shields claimed a 3-1 win at Northern League Division One leaders Dunston UTS.

And Shildon saw off a young Hartlepool United side with a 2-0 win at Victoria Park thanks to goals from Billy Greulich-Smith and Brad Hird.

Steve Mounie scored a 91st minute-winner against Wolves to end Huddersfield’s 14-game winless run and give Jan Siewert his first victory as Terriers manager.

HMounie turned in the rebound from inside the six-yard area after Karlan Grant’s shot was blocked to give Town a deserved three points and spark wild celebrations at full-time.

The striker was mobbed by his team-mates after scoring, while Siewert was swamped by his backroom staff and the players linked arms to celebrate in front of their fans.

Huddersfield remain bottom of the table, still 11 points from safety, but have their first win since beating Wolves at Molineux on 25 November.
