COLLINGWOOD : STAR MUST START BELIEVING AGAIN

NON-LEAGUE FOOTBALL

-

Seaham Red Star manager Mark Collingwood has urged his players to start believing in themselves again.

A 3-1 defeat at Hebburn Town in midweek ended a recent revival from Red Star and they will look to get their form back on track by completing a league double over North Shields at the Ferguson Motor Repairs Stadium tomorrow.

It’s only two weeks since a second-half brace from Michael Chilton helped Red Star to a 2-1 on North Tyneside and Collingwood insisted that his side can secure another three points – if they start showing the belief that helped them to three consecutive wins recently.

Speaking after the defeat at Hebburn, he said “If we are going to give balls away and make wrong decisions in both boxes and at both ends of the pitch, we are going to get punished.

“We haven’t done it recently, and we didn’t do it against North Shields last time out.

“We have to get back-tobasics and we have got to defend properly.

“You have got to look at the bigger picture and North Shields on Saturday is another game that we know we can do well in.

“We know that they are going to come, and they will be hurting from when we beat them.

“We have just got to look up and not look down, we have got to start believing again.”

Red Star have no new injury concerns ahead of the game.

Sunderland RCA face a tough challenge as they look for a sixth consecutive league win when they travel to fellow top-four contenders Hebburn Town.

Martin Swales’ side have put themselves in contention to match last season’s fourthplaced finish, but the RCA boss admitted

“We have a tough run coming up against Hebburn and Consett and we have to win both games to give ourselves a chance of getting into the top four,” said Swales.

“We are more than happy with our five league wins, but we tend to play better against the top sides in this league.

“Hebburn are one of those sides and it will be a difficult game, but it’s one that we feel we can win.”

Swales confirmed that Mark Davison and Jordan Lavery will face late fitnesstests ahead of the game.

Kyle Davis serves the last game of a three-match suspension, but striker Nathan O’Neill is fit to return.

Division One leaders Dunston UTS are at full-strength for their home game against a West Auckland Town.

Bishop Auckland will hope to bounce back from last weekend’s defeat at the hands of Sunderland RCA when they host bottom of the table Penrith.

Consett head into their trip to Shildon knowing that they need a win to keep alive their slim hopes of lifting the Division One title.

Ashington with without the services of suspended duo Jake Turnbull and Paul Antony for their game at Newton Aycliffe.

Guisborough Town are sweating on the fitness of defender Matthew Crust and midfielder Charlie Marshall ahead of their visit to a rapidly-improving Newcastle Benfield.

Whickham have been boosted by the return of Dale Burrell for their game against Stockton Town.

The former Dunston UTS midfielder has completed a suspension and will be in the Lang Jacks squad for the game at the Coverall Stadium.
