Southwick are closing in on the Sunderland Sunday League Premier Division title following a 5-1 win at Ryhope Railway.

Anth Ross bagged a hattrick and John Butler a brace, with Rogerson replying for the Railway.

Ryhope Forresters, meanwhile, are joint-bottom of the top flight after they lost 4-1 at home to Stella Dons.

Williamson, Hall, Armstrong and Young scored for the Dons, Davies with his usual effort for the hosts.

In the First Division, second-placed Port of Call may live to regret a 4-1 defeat at Grange Park come the end of the season.

Park swept the Port aside as Dobinson, Smith and a couple from Tansey put a dint in their title hopes, Jordan scoring their only goal.

Fortunatel­y for Port, third-placed Herrington also lost, 4-3 at home to Thorney Close.

Lewis Herron scored a hat-trick for Herrington, but Luke Charlton fired a double for Thorney and Micky Pattison also scored twice to take the win.

Washington Sky Lounge shot up the league table after they hammered Wearmouth CW Juniors 8-2 in the Juniors’ own backyard.

The scoring was started by Richie Logan, who finished thegamewit­hahat-trick,and McCartney added two.

Wearmouth had Atkinson and Williams keep the Sky Lounge on their toes with excellent strikes, but the away side were too strong in the second half and made sure of the game through Smith, Danks and Norton.

In the Second Division, Jordan Southern claimed a tidy hat-trick for Park View against the King’s Arms, only for teammate Reece Benson to be sent off.

That allowed the Kingsmen to rally back with goals from Smith, Gordon and two from Mather to win the game 4-3.

The Grange remain rooted to the bottom of the table following a 4-3 home defeat to The Victory Club.

Lane, Meredith and Jake Holmes kept Grange interested but the Victory Club matched them all over the park and claimed the win when Gary Topping and a hat-trick from Callum Head sealed the deal.

The Board Inn are doing all they can to secure second place to get the promotion they deserve to the First Division, beating Washington Athletic 4-1.

Trotter scored twice, Brooke and Burlinson added to the haul, leaving Athletic with a hill to climb after Cooper saw red, and despite Wheatley’s consolatio­n goal.

Paul Muir scored eight as the Queen Vic homed in on the league title with a 12-2 win over Washington Tavern.

Stavers added a brace, and Morris and Cassidy one apiece. Corrighan and Davies scored a goal in each half for the Tav.

In the Third Division, Lakeside SSC gained ground on Penshaw Catholic Club after overturnin­g a two-goal deficit against them to win 5-2.

Matty Middlemiss scored four, and Murton one.

A hat-trick from Dan Brown made sure Millfield Free Gardeners won their mid-table clash against Sunderland North 5-1.

Kershaw and Redpath added to the scoreline.

And in the Fourth Division, The Carpets Centre Elite won 6-1 at Washington Duke to leave them in pole position for a promotion spot, one point off the league leaders.

Harrison scored twice along with another double from Chris Martin before Rose and Farquhar finished off the Duke, who had Jones reply.
