DLI will face Dawdon in final

-

The final of the Premier Division league Cup in the Chilla Pizza Peterlee Sunday League this season will be between Horden DLI and Dawdon Welfare Park.

The DLI progressed to the final after a 3-3 draw against Easington CIU - but they had a 6-3 first leg lead to secure their final spot.

Goals from Craig Woodward, Robert Renwick and Ian Tumilty guided the DLI to the final but they win was overshadowed by a straight red card for Stephen Hockaday.

CIU keeper Joe Atherton also saw red, while their goals came from Josh Home-Jackson, Liam Cooke and Robert Huntley.

Goals from Paul Atkinson and Kyle Bell proved to be enough for Dawdon Welfare Park to reach the final after a 2-0 second leg win over Murton Colliery FC and an aggregate 3-1 success.

The First Division League Cup Final will see South Hetton Cricket take on Peterlee Hearts in what should be a cracking match.

The Cricket Club drew their second leg tie away to Shotton Comrades 1-1, going through 2-1 on aggregate.

Brandon Cook was on target for the Cricket Club, with Tony Hewitt netting for the Comrades.

Their opponents in the final will be Peterlee Hearts who beat Easington Southside 3-2 - making the aggregate score 3-3, having lost the first leg 1-0.

A Dave Kember brace plus an effort from Daniel Hall were the Hearts scorers while Adam Brown and Kieran Purvis replied for the Southside - but the Hearts reached the final after winning a penalty shoot-out 3-2.

A brilliant hat-trick from Ethan Maddison was not enough to get Thornley Harrys Bar into the Second Division League Cup Final when they defeated Easington Victory 3-1. That left the aggregate score at 6-6, with the Victory reaching the final winning a penalty shoot-out 5-4.

They now face Peterlee Acre Rigg Social in the final. They beat Sherburn United 6-5 in a penalty shoot-out.

The Celtic, with goals from David Usher and Greg O’Brien, lost 3-2 on Sunday to the Sherburn Club. That made the aggregate score 5-5 before Sherburn won on penalties.

Peterlee Catholic Club reached the semi-final of the John & Pat McManus Memorial Cup after winning 3-2 against Easington Lane WMC with a double from Michael

Robson and a strike from Jack Pounder. Kyle Scott and Stephen Tilley replied for the Lane WMC, who finished the game with 10 men following the sending off of John Quarmby.

Of the few league matches played, in the Premier Division a strike from Thomas Bott proved to be enough for Easington Colliery Club Mechanics after they defeated relegation-threatened Seaham Marlborough 1-0.

In the First Division, goals from Ali Shah and Shaun Bentley paved the way for Horden Cricket Club to beat Hetton Lyons FC 2-1 in what was a tight affair with Kieran Bridon netting for the Lyons FC.

A hat trick from Simon Hall and a brace from Michael Lee saw Wingate Grange get the better of Horden Legion 5-3.
