Houghton come up rosy in cup

AFC Houghton silenced an Ashbrooke Rosedene side with a 5-2 win to see them glide into the final of the Fourth Division Subsidiary Cup.

Ashbrooke managed two goals through Hope-Hindmarsh and Mick Brown.

However, rejuvenate­d Houghton overcome the deficit and ran riot after goals from Teasdale, Riding, Morrison and Lee Gaunt (2), booking their spot in the final.

The Carpets Centre Elite booked their cup final date with AFC Houghton after they edged Hall Farm Doxy Lad with a 2-1 win.

Hall Farm found the net through a Sean Holmes volley, but a brace from Mark Dolan sent the Carpetmen into raptures as his team claimed their final date with destiny.

Millview signed off with a win in the Third Division Subsidiary Cup after beating Sunderland North 4-3.

North found the net through Jones and Little.

However, Millview responded with strikes from Roberts, Hardy Richardson, while super-sub Conlin grabbed the winner.

An excellent performanc­e from Grange Park saw them dump Stella Dons out of the Total Sport Challenge Trophy.

It finished 2—2 in normal time as Pickford and Hall scored for the Dons and Thubron and Grimes replied for the Grange.

However, in the penalty shoot-out, it was Grange who held their nerve to secure a 5-4 victory and in doing so, advance to the next round.
