Many thanks to the 25 people who have contribute­d to Horden Community Welfare Football Club by way of a standing order in April. It’s just another way of showing support to the club if you are unable to come to the games. This helps them out no end as it’s an expensive business running the village’s football club so help like this is greatly appreciate­d .

Karate classes are held on Tuesdays from 7pm to 9pm ( juniors can finish at 8pm at Horden Centennial Centre, minimum aged five years, no maximum age. It is a family friendly atmosphere, first lesson is free, this is a non-profit organisati­on all extra money stays in the club. Contact Chris Anderson (4th Dan) on 07585 115348 after 5pm.

Starting from today, officers from Peterlee NPT have been trained in Select DNA which can be used on persons riding off-road bikes. This spray will be carried by both police officers and PCSOs to help identify offenders. The spray leaves a unique trace which can only be seen under a UV light. This has been funded by local parish councillor­s.

The GT Group Band Peterlee has announced the appointmen­t of Graeme Tindall as new resident profession­al musical director. Graeme has had many years of playing experience at the highest level where he is principal cornet with the Reg Vardy Band and was a number of years as musical director with the Felling Band. The GT Group Band are excited to be working with Graeme and are looking forward to a long and successful partnershi­p.

Head coach Glenn Bowman has decided to step down after around 15 years in the role at Horden & Peterlee Rugby Club. Glenn spent many years at Horden’s midfield as a player, where he earned the nickname ‘Rock’ because of his reliabilit­y and solid defence. He was part of the squad of 2003 which finished fifth in North 2 East - rubbing shoulders with the likes of Bradford & Bingley, Hull and Sheffield. Arguably the club’s best ever league finish. He took up a coaching role once his playing days were finished and soon became the club’s head coach when succeeding Dave Turner. During his 15 years, highlights include league title Down Your Way Roker, Fulwell, Seaburn & St Peter’s for Tues 21st May 2019 All Saints’ Ladies Fellowship meet in the Vestry Meeting tomorrow at 7.30pm. All ladies are welcome. Roker Crafts meet from 1pm to 3pm in Roker Methodist Church hall. Each session is led by a member of the group. On Friday, May 31, it is Elizabeth – Mystery Craft.
