Sage hosts regional FinTech conference

More than 300 people are expected to attend a conference aimed at showcasing and promoting the region’s growing Fintech sector.

Organised by FinTech North with support from regional IT network Dynamo, the free, all-day conference willbehost­edatSage’sheadoffic­e in Newcastle on Wednesday.

FinTech North is the event-based community for the North of England, and the conference will be chaired by Chris Sier, HM Treasury FinTech Envoy and Chairman of FinTech North.

The event will feature speakers from organisati­ons including Sage, Innovate Finance, Atom Bank, Dynamo, Paid, Honcho, TSB, Equiniti, Thoughtwor­ks, Newcastle University, Track My Risks and Whitecap Consulting.

Mark Mullen, CEO of Atom Bank, will talk about the opportunit­ies for growing a major FinTech in the region during a morning session covering Digital Innovation and Open Banking, which will also feature Jason WilkinsonB­rown the Head of Digital Propositio­ns and Partnershi­ps for TSB.

Later, a range of experts will explore what the Fintech challenges are, where the region is excelling and where the community can best focus efforts.

Finally, speakers will be invited to showcase their Fintech innovation­s and tell their stories of growth in the North East. Delegates will hear from growing establishe­d businesses and exciting new startups in a quickfire format as well as a panel on the topic of funding.

Founded in 2016, FinTech North is a not-for-profit event-based initiative, which has become the focal point for the Fintech community in the Northern Powerhouse. In April 2019 FinTech North co-founded the FinTech National Network, alongside Innovate Finance and FinTech Scotland, with FinTech Wales, FinTech Northern Ireland and FinTech West all joining in JulyTicket­s at www.fintechnor­th.uk
