Years in the planning, work is set to begin on Sunderland’s new Auditorium at the Fire Station in the coming days

Lisa Fairweather:

Brilliant! Great size. Not to big and not too small. Massive boost to the city. Well done.

Gerry Smith:

Great as a born and bread in Easington creative and Sunderland Uni graduate and now living in the south working on international creative projects. It is sad Brexit will result in few E.U. creatives not being able to come to Sunderland. But there is some great bands in South Hetton so good luck Brexit land in your future.

Karl Nessworthy:

Excellent news. 800 standing capacity is a large venue size, and easily similar to some smaller academy venues across the country. Bring those bands to Sunderland.

Dave Dougan:

Size of the venue speaks volumes for the size of ambition this city has.

Sylvia Weetman:

Excellent. I have been asking for this for a long time it will bring bands to Sunderland so we don't have to go all over the country.

Jim Tansey:

We need an indoor venue that holds 10,000 like the Newcastle Arena to attract bigger names. £11million for a venue that can only seat 450 seems expensive.

Chris Sumby:

Good to see but think it’s probably going to be empty most of the year unless someone running it has fingers in the right pies. Andrew Stuart Neil Should have had one ages ago instead of going to Newcastle.
