Officials and Conservati­ves continue great start to season

Two teams maintained their 100% winning record in the Danby Autos Sunderland Snooker League Winter League.

Firstly, Murton Officials eased to a 4-1 home victory over St Gabriels, thanks to wins from Gary Stockton, Justin Ebdy, Bobby Carne and Stephen Clementson.

In the pairs, Ken Rackstraw/Malcolm Robertson won St Gabriels a consolatio­n point when beating Ebdy/Stockton 51-22 to reduce the defeat to 4-1.

Secondly, Seaham Conservati­ves A were made to work hard against Biddick B when edging to a 3-2 to maintain their great start.

Seaham ‘s winning legs came from Les Pinder, Gordon Elliott and Ian Hughes. Biddick had Peter Mills claiming wins before the pairs. Mills/John Temple beat Jack Dieghton/Sean Raey 71-34 to reduce the defeat.

Breaks of 23 and 26 helped Bobby Boyce get South Hylton B off to an excellent start at home to Glendale, before Tony Hazard won the second frame against Frank McParlin 8536.

A 21 break helped John Harrison win the third frame, before John Wiseman pulled one back for Glendale.

In the pairs, Boyce/Gary Usher won a close frame beating Wiseman/Paul Atkinson 54-45 for the 4-1 win.

The match between Biddick A and Seaham Conservati­ves B was expected to be close and the singles alternated into a 2-2 situation before Biddick took the pairs for the overall 3-2 result.

Pennywell Comrades started well at home to Steels with Kevin Harrop winning the first frame and Joe Turner wining a close second frame.

A 22 break helped Andrew Doran win the third frame, before Stuart Taylor potted well to win the fourth frame.

In the pairs, Jimmy Gales/Vince Flynn won Steels a consolatio­n point beating Dean Taylor/Steve O’Wellen 90-55 to reduce the defeat to 4-1.

Elsewhere, Birtley and South Hylton A’s game ended in a 3-2 home win.

Finally, Mill View claimed a superb 3-2 away win at The Victory.
