Champions City suffer shock home loss

-

Champions Manchester City fell eight points behind Premier League leaders Liverpool after suffering a rare 2-0 home defeat to Wolves.

Adama Traore put the visitors in front 10 minutes from time and the 23-yearold made certain of the win in the dying seconds as City suffered their second league loss of the season.

City boss Pep Guardiola said: “It was not our best day. We started good, we wanted to be patient with our game because we know how good they defend.

“We let them run twice, got nervous a little bit and our process to create chances was not good. We had the problems on the counter-attack in the end and it was a bad day."

Arsenal moved up to third in the table, just a point behind Pep Guardiola's side, thanks to a 1-0 win over Bournemouth at the Emirates Stadium.

David Luiz scored the only goal of the game in the ninth minute after escaping the attentions of Callum Wilson and heading home Nicolas Pepe's corner.

Chelsea remained a point behind their London rivals after thrashing Southampton 4-1 at St Mary's.

Tammy Abraham scored the opening goal after 17 minutes, lofting the ball over the onrushing Angus Gunn, with technology confirming the ball had crossed the line before Maya Yoshida cleared.

Mason Mount doubled the visitors' lead and although Danny Ings halved the deficit, Chelsea restored their two-goal advantage when N'Golo Kante's deflected shot found the bottom corner.

Michy Batshuayi also netted in the 89th minute.
