Animal charity appeals for help

-

Animal charity volunteers are appealing for people to help them restock their charity shop.

Staff and volunteers at the People’s Dispensary for Sick Animals shop in Peterlee are urging local people to have a clear out this weekend and donate any unwanted items to help sick and injured pets in the local area.

The shop, in Yoden Way, Peterlee, urgently needs items including games, jigsaws, CDs, DVDs, books and toys, as well as home furnishings such as vases, pictures and ornaments.

Donations can be taken to the shop from Monday to Saturday, between 9am and 5pm, and the store also has a free collection service.

Shop manager, Susan Curry, said: “Why not have a clear out this weekend and donate your unwanted items to PDSA?

“We’re appealing for all sorts of items to sell in shop, including unwanted CDs, unused toiletries, good quality toys, games, and second-hand books.

“As well as de-cluttering your home, you’ll be helping a very worthy cause at the same time.

“All money raised from the sale of these items will help the sick and injured pets of people in need.”

The shop raises funds to provide PDSA-funded veterinary treatment in the local area.

For more information or to arrange a collection please contact Susan or Tracy, on 0191 5184065.

The PDSA is a veterinary charity, founded in 1917 by Maria Dickin to provide care for sick and injured animals whose owners need help to make them well.
