Sunderland Illuminations 2019: Work underway to install 'festive' lighting at city's seafront and Wearmouth Bridge

Wilf Newall: I was involved in the late 80’s and early 90’s when the illuminations went from the Wearmouth bridge to Whitburn

Julie Cameron: Is it right it is £3 per ticket if so then ile be paying £15 to visit Mowbray Park .... think ile give it a miss this year!

Joyce Galley: The problem for me is having to prebook tickets. I like to be spontaneous, so no I won't be going. In the past you just went along when you wanted to and there was never any problem.

Steven Logan: Not if I was paid £10 to go. Roker park and surrounding area worth a visit though. If Crowtree was still there I’d take the bairns ice skating then go there after.

Michelle HaleyStephenson: Mowbray Park Is far too dangerous during the day never mind of a night time!

John Sturdy: They will have security working in mowbray park so it should be safe on a night

Hank Witherspoon: No. Bit disappointing really, expected it to grow and get better and better each year, eventually end up like the old illuminations. Stayed the same every year, started charging, and now park not being used. I expect this to be the last one.

Andy Rutherford: Over the moon there not at Seaburn and Roker

Glen Parkin: Only council in the world that put the lights on in park before Christmas then takes them back out before Christmas Chris Sumby: Yup. Support it or lose it. Lose it and less chance of better things coming to the city.

Keith Holt: Will be back where it belongs in a few years I'd imagine or just gone. There will be hell on with parking and it sounds as if they have split it all up over the town, what a ball ache. Having to drag the kids from Mowbray park through the town to keel square for the rides then back to where ever you are paying £1.50 an hour to park. Play to your strengths Sunderland, the city centre really isn't one of them yet!

Jim Tansey: Nah .... a few lightbulbs isn't that exciting when you are not a kid anymore.

Adam Scott Watson: Just asking for trouble there that park is full of chavs to start with

Joanne Duggan: Why all the paranoia about rapes, dodgepots etc...ya gotta be a stupid criminal to do owt when the park is full of people including security...also they're not gonna book online up front and pay 3 quid to commit a crime!
