GHOULISH GARDEN

There will be a family fun filled Ghoulish Garden at Alnwick Garden with spooky trails, creepy crafts and frights galore. The trail is designed to take families around The Garden in search of spooky creatures They’ll stumble across tombs and skeletons and many more Halloween spooks. Highlights are: Wand Making – October 25, 27, 29 and 31 (these wands are made with live willow, to plant when you get home). Potion Making – 24, 26, 28 and 30. Pumpkin Carving (October 26 to 31) – 11am to 11.30am, noon to 12:30pm, 1.30pm to 2pm and 2.30pm to 3pm.

WIZARDING ADVENTURE

Arbuthnot & Pals’ Wizarding Adventure is at Customs House, South Shields, from October 30 to November 1. After their success in ‘Adventures in Oz’ Arbut and Pals are back. Arbuthnot and his cousin Dennis receive letters telling them that they are wizards. They travel to a magical castle but will they fit in, in this strange new land. Featuring plenty of audience interactio­n, songs and dancing this is the perfect October half-term treat for kids of all ages. Tickets are £8.50.

FAMILY FRIGHT FEST

The organisers of the North East’s biggest scream park are proving that Halloween doesn’t have to be scary, with a special event for the whole family. 700 Acres Ltd has has a Family Fright Fest, at Lintz Hall Farm, Burnopfiel­d, with a packed programme of activities for children of all ages. The Family Fright Fest takes place from 11am to 4.30pm on October 26, 27 and 31. Children under two go free, with tickets costing £7 for those aged two to 12 and £10 for anyone over the age of 13.

PUMPKIN PATCH

On October 28 and 29, get into the seasonal spooky spirit by crafting your very own broomstick and magical wand, the ideal finishing fancy-dress touch for little witches and warlocks. Then, on October 30 and |Halloween night, October 31, pick your own pumpkin from Jarrow Hall’s pumpkin patch. Learn how this spectacula­r fruit grows and develop your ghoulishly creative skills by carving a pumpkin into a Halloween jack-o-lantern in the Thirlings.

GLASS PUMPKINS

Glass Pumpkin Demonstrat­ions take place at the National Glass Centre in Sunderland on October 24 and 25 and October 28 to 31 at 1.30pm. Come along and observe the skills of studio glass blowers as they create a beautiful glass pumpkin. And if you really love the end result, each piece they make is also available to buy. Note: The make your own pumpkin sessions have already sold out.
