Your Echo is going up in price on Monday

The price of the Echo will increase to 83p from Monday.

We recognise no increase will be welcomed, the simple truth is that the cost of your newspaper has historically been subsidised by the advertising within it.

In a digital age, the money we receive from that advertising has decreased and with it the subsidy from which all readers benefit.

At the same time, the relative weakness of the pound continues to put pressure on our publishing costs.

In order to continue to deliver a quality local title, supported by highlytrained journalists who adhere to the most stringent regulatory and ethical standards, this increase is unavoidable.
