side full of goals, beating Cross Keys 9-0.

Dan Fox and Brooke scored a brace each, and Macaneny, Young, Davie, Hutchinson and Harrison all fired home for the visitors.

The Lakeside SSC suffered their first defeat in a while as their excellent winning streak ended at the hands of Hall Farm Doxy Lad, losing 2-0.

The hosts had Dean Smith and debutant Callum Hodgson score. Myers won 3-2 against Wear United, while Ashbrooke Rosedene’s poor run continued as they were dumped out of the cup after a 7-0 drubbing at the hands of Ryhope.

Davey Stevens bagged a treble, then Sweeney, Middlebrook and a brace from Wolfendale put the Ashy out of their misery.

Mark Wasey shone throughout for Ryhope, and Winlow for the Rosedene.

A late Jack Muirhead goal secured a dramatic win for Sunderland North as they narrowly came out on top against Stella United.

Charlie Hood scored for the hosts and Jacque Cook scored for North before Muirhead popped up with the winner.

Whitburn were put to the sword by basement boys The Victory Club, who advance into the next round cup after a 6-0 win.

McDermott and Scott Hunter got two goals apiece, then a late rally from the Victory Club saw Jackson and Chris Brown score late in the game.

Washington United were too good for the basement boys of the Fourth Division, as they hit seven against Townend Farm.

Ganley scored two for Townend but it was in vain as Brain Quinn scored a double, and Christie, Frost, Tony Innes and another two from Steven Freeman sealed the deal for Washington.

The Grange were easy picking for Washington Cherry Tree after they smashed seven goals without reply.

Martins scored two and Applegarth, Carter, Wood, Sinclair and Jonathon Rowntree added further goals for the Cherries.

It was a poor day at the office for Millview CIU as they were well beaten by Washington New Tavern, 8-2, and dumped out of the cup in the early stages.

Millview’s Conlin and Machin scored in each half but The Tavern had a host of scorers, with Mason, Neal, Wilson, Trewhitt, Robinson and two from Shaun Davies.

It took Hendon to go two goals behind to spark themselves into action against Millfield Free Gardeners, only to bounce back and storm to a 5-2 victory.

The Free Gardeners raced into a 2-0 lead with goals from Glover and Brown, after taking advantage of mistakes by the Hendon defence.

However, the resolute Hendon side hit back when Reay nodded home.

Hope then slotted past the Free Gardeners keeper to take the tie to level terms going into the half-time break.

Then straight after the interval, young Owen Imeson smashed home from yards out to put Hendon in front for the first time.

After more attacking prowess, Hendon increased their lead when whippersnapper Charlie Conway beat his man on the wing and fired a shot goalwards, which was parried but only into the Free Gardeners’ net. By now, the result looked assured but Hendon made certain of victory when the fifth came from competition winner Brad Davis.

He came off the bench i n the dying minutes - after winning the raffle at the Blue House to boot! - and scored from all off five inches to make sure of Hendon’s place in the next round.

In the Joe Holborn Memorial Cup first round, Premier League Washington Sky Lounge were just too much for Thorney Close Inn, winning 5-3.

Norton and Logan both scored two each in the opening period.

But the spritely Thorney side had the whi ppet Michael Pattison score twice and Paul Stokoe fire home to keep them in the game.

It was not to be, however, as Gary McCartney’s spectacular effort sealed victory.
