Dragon joins Bradley charity
The newest and youngest investor on BBC’s Dragons’ Den has been announced as the new patron of the Bradley Lowery Foundation.
Sara Davies MBE has spoken of her pride in representing the charity, which works to support families of poorly children across the country.
It was set up in the wake of Bradley’s death in July 2017 by mum Gemma Lowery, who wanted to create a legacy in her son’s name after his short life touched so many people.
Sara, who is a mum-oftwo, said: “I remember hearing about Bradley and how the nation fell in love with his cheeky personality and winning smile.
“His legacy has enabled hundreds of poorly children across the UK to receive specialist equipment, physiotherapy, life-changing treatment, and so much more. Gemma is really inspiring and the work that the Bradley Lowery Foundation does is so important.
“As a North East businesswoman and more importantly, a mother of two young boys, I felt such a connection to the charity so when I was asked to be a patron, it was one of the easiest decisions that I have had to make.”
Founded in 2005, Sara’s business Crafter’s Companion, based in Newton Aycliffe, employs 200 staff and exports products to more than 40 countries.
Bradley inspired thousands of people across the UK and beyond with his brave fight against the neuroblastoma cancer which would eventually claim his life.
A huge football fan and Sunderland supporter, the six-year-old appeared as mascot for the club as well as representing Everton and the England side.
The charity has raised millions for other children, established a dedicated support line for the families of children with cancer, donated money to research and campaigned for new drugs to be introduced in the UK.
Planning permission has also been granted to build a holiday home for sick children and their families in Scarborough.
Bradley and his family lived in Blackhall.
