Wearside’s Georgia Mordey has been crowned the country’s best at the Supermodel England 2019 finals.

Georgia, 21, won the title representing the area of Washington, taking a clean sweep in the competitions three categories – fashion, swimming and evening gowns.

After finishing as first runner-up last year, Georgia was invited back this year and was able to take home the crown.

She now claims the title of the top model of England and earns the opportunity to represent England in the Top Model of The World international competition next year.

Speaking about her win, Georgia couldn’t quite believe it, she said: “I was shocked! It felt incredible.

“After placing first runner-up last year all I wanted to do was hopefully improve.

“It’s never about winning, however, this has been my dream and my goal to achieve.”

After being named Sunderland’s top model last year, Georgia used the platform to get involved in and arrange a number of fundraisers, raising more than £2,000 for Zoe’s Baby Hospice.

The part-time model found a new passion for fundraising while preparing for the Supermodel England finals, coming up with different and creative ways to fundraise, such as fun days, fashion show evenings and sponsored paragliding in Turkey.

Georgia was delighted to represent the place of her birth in the competition, doing all she can to put Washington on the map.

“I was so proud to represent my home town of Washington this year, likewise when I represented Sunderland last year in 2018,” she said.

“It really puts the town on the map and shows that anyone can be successful when they put their mind to it.”

The opportunity to represent England in the Top Model of The World competition next year means a great deal to Georgia, but is something she’s not going to let go to her head.

She added: “It’s just so incredible and something I will stand so proud in doing.

“I also hope that my year of reign will bring me many modelling opportunities far and wide.

“Also, my title now gives me a bigger platform to speak out on topics, charities and campaigns that are important to me.”
