A ‘hopping mad’ son has slammed housing bosses after his elderly mother’s Sunderland flat was without heating for a week

Chris Parry: “It’s not acceptable, especially when you’ve got people in bad health. I’ve taken her out to The Range and Sainsbury’s just to keep her warm.

Edna Cave: Gentoo are saying they have been in touch with the people who had no heat. Yes they did the heat went off 7th we got the message on the 13th. Fans are a load of rubbish used my own convector now I'm getting in touch to ask gentoo if we are getting a repayment for the elec we have used as they have our heating money on our rent.

Anne Bingham: We live in an airey house I complained saying if we had a fire we couldn’t get out of the windows but was told we have an extra fire alarm but if it came up the stairs we would have no chance sent a letter to my mp no response

June Tye: i would be hopping mad if i had no heating and my son didnt make me stay with him till it was fixed!

Sharon Ely: Why couldn’t he take her to stay with him?? My mam or dad wouldn’t have been there if there’d been no heating Rebecca Roberts: Sharon Ely unless he lives with her and isn't saying

Kelly Abbott: Shocking .. and especially when lifts out of order .what happens if a fire etc not good

Angela Ian Wilson: Poor soul hope it’s sorted soon Gentoo never hurry they get the rent on time. Maybe this lady needs to be on one level for the bathroom her son might live in house Thomas Jopling: Why did you not take your mam to your house instead of shops

Kevin Clarke: Hayley Byers surely a bungalow would be better for her with she having health issues Hayley Byers: Kevin Clarke long term yes but it would mean she didn’t have to sit in three coats for a week Julie Stokoe: Shocking to think how much rent it is too live there

Susan Cummings: All the negative comments take away from the real issues, Gentoo don't do their job properly! Heating should be fixed immediately it's as simple as that, I have a friend who's boiler is constantly breaking down, they've had bother for month's my son's friends boiler broke down the day before Christmas Eve, he has two little girls, they only fixed it last Friday.

Maggie Bullen: They should have given all of them heaters for every room and paid the electricity bills. They're very expensive to run.
