Readers pay tribute to 'lovely lad' Michael

Echo readers have paid tribute to Michael Giblin, who died in hospital after a serious crash on New Year's Eve.

Michael Giblin, 32, from Hendon. died in hospital on January 10 and was named by police the following Wednesday.Kind words and tributes have flooded in from Sunderland Echo readers.

Lee Michelle said: “RIP mate. Was the best kid ever met. Until we meet again. Fly high bro. Heart goes out to you and your family.”

Hannah Scorer commented: “Gutted. What a lovely lad as well. Such a shame. Can’t believe it.”

Police are still appealing for informatio­n after the crash, which happened at 8.15pm on December 31, in Durham Road, Sunderland. Officers were called to the scene of a two-vehicle collision at the Prospect Junction, where the A690 meets Premier Road.

Michael’s family are being supported by specialist officers as an investigat­ion is ongoing into the circumstan­ces.
