Northern League’s measures to help clubs

-

The Ebac Northern League have announced measures to support their member clubs through the current coronavirus epidemic.

It now seems inevitable that no league fixtures will take place throughout the rest of the season as the epidemic continues to spread around the country.

There have been concerns expressed over the financial welfare of clubs around the North East after the absence of home fixtures deprived them of one of their major sources of income.

In order to offer some assistance, the Northern League has confirmed that they will waive their membership fees for the 2020/21 season and the annual presentation dinner that is normally held in May has been cancelled.

The league is also ensuring that clubs receive regular updates from the Football Association that will include guidance on the Government’s financial help for businesses.

League chairman Glenn Youngman explained: “We fully appreciate that clubs are facing a very difficult time in the coming weeks and months.

“We will do all we can to help and support them.

“By waiving fees and cancelling the annual dinner, clubs will be able to put hundreds of pounds towards paying essential bills and other costs.

“We are sending regular updates from the Football Association to our clubs so they are aware of how the pandemic is affecting football nationally and how any developments may affect them.

“We will also continue to liaise closely with the Football Association.”
