RSPB nature reserves The Royal Society for the Protection of Birds has now closed all of its nature reserves to visitors until further notice. In a letter to members chief executive Beccy Speight said: “Being in nature can be a great comfort at a time like this and I recognise that not being able to visit these cherished places will come as a blow. However, we believe that this is the best course of action at this time.” To stay in touch with nature, including ‘bird spotter’ informatio­n if you and the family are spending more time now encouragin­g wildlife into the garden, visit https://www.rspb.org.uk/ birds-and-wildlife/ Fulwell social dance Owing to the coronaviru­s crisis the social dance, normally held at Fulwell Community Centre, Sunderland on Wednesdays, is cancelled until further notice. At home with the children? Have you come up with some good ways to spend family time together - or just keep them occupied for half an hour? Why not send us a photograph for our 24 Hours section. Carpet bowls The carpet bowls at Fulwell Community Centre, Chapman Street, Fulwell has been cancelled until further notice for the safety of both staff and the public. All Saints Ladies’ Fellowing As a result of the Government lockdown, All Saints Ladies’ Fellowship meetings are cancelled until further notice. Wearside Field Club In line with other groups, both the talks and field club walks have been stopped until after the lockdown. Choral Society concert Because of the coronaviru­s crisis, Bishopwear­mouth Choral Society regrets that the spring concert, scheduled for April 4, has now been cancelled Definitely Oasis Reputedly one of the best Oasis tribute acts is coming to Sunderland this summer. Definitely Oasis is scheduled to appear at Independen­t in Holmeside, Sunderland on July 4. Tel 0191 568 9770 for further informatio­n. Durham Gala Theatre Local theatres may be closed at the moment, but the Gala Theatre in Durham does have a variety of events planned for later in the year. The Music of Northern Soul Live is scheduled for July 4, while Gyles Brandreth is touring with his Break a Leg show and dropping into Durham on September 8. Durham comedy show Jason Byrne has a comedy show with plenty of audience participat­ion and will be at Durham’s Gala Theatre at 8pm on November 12, tickets £20. Tug of War, Boldon Boldon’s Tug of War organisers are looking for teams to take part in the annual event, traditiona­lly held over the River Don in Boldon Colliery, on August 31.
