Heroes and the villains

-

I don't know about everyone else, but along with all my family we went outside at 8pm and we were joined by loads of other households applauding the NHS workers and all the other important service providers who are doing their bit and giving their valuable time during this extraordinary crisis.

It seemed to be not just an applause but a realisation of what and who's important in the world at this moment in time.

I’m sure we have all been reading how with all the inactivity the planet has begun to heal itself, flowers are growing, rivers are cleansing themselves.

I went out today for a peddle, wearing a mask I might add, and noticed most of the people I passed, mainly dog walkers seemed to be in a positive and upbeat frame of mind.

As a nation we really have to fight together to beat this and when this virus finally leaves us hopefully people will realise who the heroes and the villains are, including the Richard Bransons of this world, who tried to claim taxpayers’ cash, while at the same time laying off all his workforce.

And let’s not forget the Tory MPs who cheered not so long back when the government announced there would be no pay rise for nurses after 10 years without one, then having the brass neck to give themselves above inflation pay rises.

Let us not forget the brilliant NHS workers, but at the same time let us never forget the like Branson and this Tory government. Ged Taylor, High Barnes.
