STORY: Sunderland Airshow has been cancelled as the coronavirus pandemic continues.

Mark Thompson: Never seen the air show ..... massive waste of tax payers money. Could have 10 decent size festivals etc for the price of an air show that out of towners come to see. Us paying to entertain them eh? How about free illuminations for the kids? Free music festivals a couple of times, and all those other community things.…

Ian Taggart: People making the mistake of thinking this virus will come and go in a matter of weeks when there’s so many out and about totally ignoring it. Wouldn’t be surprised it we are still seeing affects by the end of the year.

Mary Youern: Very true, I’ve been saying the same thing!

Anth Dixon: Not wrong mate. Still be effecting us come Christmas I think.

Nicola Tyrrell: Totally agree here. People think the kids will be at school soon. They probs not be back till Jan 2021. Karen Butler: For what it was going to cost to put show on, yes I know they make a profit and claw money back, why not make sure the hospitals around the area have enough PPE as there's always a % taken from council tax for this. This is going to take a lot longer than we think.

Stephen Moran: That events due to be taking place 3/4 months ahead like this and Wimbledon are being cancelled maybe shows how long we're all going to be affected by this.

Vicki Laybourn: Hardly a difficult decision! It’s common sense.

Deborah Stevens: Yet holiday companies still saying hols are going ahead in July .. madness.

Pat Martin Dyke: It’s going to be much longer than even this year I think.

Susan Phillpot: Better to be safe as no one can tell how long this virus is going to last .

Allassandra Elizabeth

Richardson: Oh no another disappointing bit of news.
