Netflix show is ‘different to reality’, says ex-boss

Jack Ross has watched ‘a little bit’ of Sunderland ‘Til I Die and admits ‘some of it is a little bit different from reality’.

The second series which chronicles Stewart Donald and Charlie Methven’s first season involved with the club - was released last Wednesday.

Ross, of course, was the man appointed to lead the Black Cats’ charge back to the Championship but ultimately fell short following the play-off final defeat to Charlton Athletic.

The 43-year-old was later relieved of his duties in October after 17 months on Wearside and now manages north of the border at Scottish Premiership Hibernian.

Ross, speaking to Sky Sports News’ Jim White, was asked if he had watched the six episode series on Netflix.

He said: "I was hoping you'd go to an advert Jim before asking me that!

"I've watched a little bit of it but I haven't watched it all.

"It's no surprise to say I lived through that period, so I don't need to necessarily watch it to know what it was like and to remember it.

"Of course, it is a television programme so some of it is a little bit different from reality.”

Ross, who suffered backto-back Wembley heartbreaks - including against Portsmouth in the Checkatrade Trophy final - wishes his former employers the best for the future.

"I said when I first left the club, I had a fantastic time as manager and loved every minute of it,” he said.

"It was a privilege to manage the club and I wish them well for the future."

Falkirk-born Ross previously managed Alloa Athletic and St Mirren.
