Local taxi firm is providing supermarket pick-up service

-

A Sunderland taxi firm is offering a new service to elderly, self-isolating and at risk customers who can’t make it to a supermarket to pick up their vital groceries.

Station Taxis are offering a click and collect service for customers who are self-isolating, elderly or are putting themselves at risk to pick up their groceries during the coronavirus crisis.

Customers who are able to book a click and collect slot with Asda Leechmere, Asda Thompson Road, Morrisons Doxford Park, Sainsburys Riverside Road or Silkworth, can ask Station Taxis to pick up their groceries for them and bring them to their door. How to use the new service?

Visit the supermarket store’ s website and order your shopping for click and collect.

You can then book a Station Taxi once you have received your order confirmation.

Call the firm on 0191 555 5555 and provide your name, order number and address. How will your shopping be delivered?

The firm’s driver will collect your shopping and bring this to your door. Customers can pay via card if they’d prefer to avoid handling cash.

A spokesman for Station Taxis wrote on its Facebook page: “This is a great option for anyone who is following government advice and staying safe at home.

“Our drivers are all following HSE guidelines and have enhanced cleaning procedures.” The new service also has the backing of Sunderland City Council. Sharing the post on social media, a council spokesman said: “A great service being offered by Station Taxis Sunderland if you need your essential shopping collected from the supermarket.”
