How Phil's win rate compares to ex-bosses
Phil Parkinson has endured a tumultuous start to life at the Stadium of Light – but how does his win percentage compare to former occupants of the Sunderland hotseat?
We’ve compared the win percentages of a selection of permanent managers of the Black Cats to find out where Parkinson ranks alongside some familiar names.
SIMONGRAYSON:Theformer Preston boss proved an ineffective appointment followingSunderland’sdropfrom thetopflight-soit’snosurprise to see him bottom of the pile. WinpercentageatSunderland: 16.7%.
DAVID MOYES: Another who unsurprisingly finds themselves at the wrong end of the list. Moyes’ sole season in charge on Wearside saw Sunderland drop out the Premier League. Win percentage at Sunderland: 18.6%.
STEVE BRUCE: While it may be surprising to see Bruce above some more popular names, it’s important to remember that he did have a fairly lengthy spell on Wearside compared to some of his successors. Win percentage at Sunderland: 29.6%.
PHIL PARKINSON: And so we come on to the man currently in the hotseat. After a shaky start, a New Year resurgence saw Parkinson’s side shoot up the table. Win percentage at Sunderland: 34.8%.
ROYKEANE:Whilemostof these games took place in the Championship, Keane’s win percentage is still an impressive one. Could he return to management soon? Win percentage at Sunderland: 40.0%.
JACK ROSS: Top of the shops is Ross, although that’s perhaps unsurprising given the division in which he managed the club compared to most of his predecessors. Win percentage: 50.0%.
