Turkish giants Fenerbahce eye move for Toon flop Joelinton

-

Newcastle United’s desire to persist with three-goal, £40million frontman Joelinton could be tested in the next transfer window with Fenerbahce reportedly keen on the forward.

The Brazilian’s arrival smashedUnited’stransferrecord last summer, dwarfing the £21million the Magpies paid for Miguel Almiron in January 2019. But the former Hoffenheim frontman has struggled in England, scoring just one Premier League goal and two in the FA Cup.

According to Turkish newspaper Fotomac, the Istanbul

outfit want Joelinton to spearhead their potential ChampionsLeaguecampaign next season, but Fener would only be able to finance a loan deal for the 23-year-old.

Meanwhile, former England and Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher believes Newcastle United fans will be ‘blinded’ by the riches of potential new Saudi Arabian owners–buthedoesnotthink they should be criticised for that.

Speaking to Sky Sports, he said: “It will get a lot of attention in the press and maybe will be criticism at certain times. I think for most Newcastle supporters they just want someone who will invest in their club and get it to be great again.

"Whether you say that is right or wrong that’s not just the case with Newcastle but is the same with every football supporter. I think we can all be morally realistic at different times but when it’s our own club and our situation with a chance of success we maybeallabitblindedtoitreally.Listen,it’snotperfectand it’snotright, butIamnotgoing to sit here and ruin the news for Newcastle supporters."
